Fourth Grade Reading

I am a graduate of Reeltown High School in Notasulga, AL. I graduated from Auburn University in Montgomery in 2012 with my Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education. After my first year of teaching I began working on my Master's Degree. I graduated from Troy University in 2016 with my Master's in Elementary Education. In the fall of 2018, I began working on my second Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of West Alabama.

I have 7 years of experience as an elementary teacher. I started working at Southview Primary School in Opelika, AL as a second grade teacher. I taught 2nd grade in Opelika for 5 years as a self-contained teacher in which I taught Reading, Math, Language, Writing, and Social Studies/Science. In 2017, I became a 4th Grade Reading teacher at Stephens Elementary School. As a fourth grade teacher at SES, I teach Reading, Language, and Writing.

I grew in in Camphill, AL and attended Reeltown High. I graduated from high school in 2002 and moved to Alexander City. I attended community college for two years. After attending community college I worked at a daycare for a year and I worked in retail for four years. In 2008, I became a substitute teacher at Coosa County Schools and fell in love with teaching. In 2009, I decided to return to school to pursue my degree in Education. In 2016, I was honored to be recognized as Teacher of the Year of Southview Primary School in Opelika, AL.

I currently reside in Alexander City with my husband whom I have been married to for 11 years. We have a three year old daughter named Ruby. I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my little girl grow. The thing that I love most about teaching is watching my students grow academically, socially, and emotionally from August to May.

Every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way.  -Author Unknown
