In 2016, I graduated from Faulkner University with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I am currently participating in LETRS training to further my knowledge of teaching reading. Very soon in the near future I plan to continue my education by getting my Masters in Elementary Education.

I have three years of experience as a 3rd grade teacher. All three years, I have taught English Language Arts. This year, I am growing my knowledge about reading through participating in the LETRS program. My favorite thing about being a teacher is watching a child learn and grow as an individual.  It is the most inspiring event to watch a student grow as a reader and a writer.

"Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow."

-Anthony J. D'Angelo

I grew up in Ashland, Alabama where I was home schooled from 7th grade until my 12th grade year. I moved to Alexander City in 2008 when I started working at Russell Medical Center as a nursing assistant. I worked at Russell Medical Center from 2008-2016. I really enjoyed working on third floor taking care of pediatric patients and newborn babies. During most of my time at Russell Medical Center, I worked during the night so that I could go to school during the day. I owe a tremendous amount of my success to my coworkers who pushed me when I was ready to give up. In 2009, I met my husband, Micky Griggs, of Alexander City. We got married in 2010 and had our first child in 2014. Our daughter Anabeth is now four years old and thinks she is twenty. I think one of the best things about being a parent is watching your child grow and change. In our free time we enjoy spending time with our family and close friends. We also enjoy boating and spend a large amount of our summer on the lake.
